The Amazing Savings of Switching to a Refillable Vape

The Amazing Savings of Switching to a Refillable Vape

REFILLABLE VAPE PODS ARE THE BEST VALUE

The popularity of prefilled vape pods purchased at gas stations and disposable vape pens loaded with nic salts is well-known.

But for adult vapers or anyone looking to resell vape juices, and hardware, the enormous savings enjoyed by vapers who fill their own devices can add up to hundreds of dollars each month.

Refillable devices have better battery life, countless flavor options, flexibility, more nicotine strength options, better vaping performance and enhanced flexibility when compared to a prefilled vape pod kit like a Juul or Vuse Alto. Refillable devices also generate less waste, are also draw activated and use more durable technology. They are more reliable and every bit as small and convenient.

But the biggest selling point by far is the tremendous savings that customers can enjoy by filling a refillable, or open, vape pod kit with a bottle of ejuice.

Daily Drain of Dollars with Prefilled Vape Pods

As a daily and not inexpensive habit, the true cost of vaping prefilled pods escapes many customers. If you are currently using one of the popular prefilled vape pods made by the industry giants such as MyBlu, Vuse, or Juul, it would be cheaper for you to purchase a bottle of nic salts, an affordable vape pod kit and then throw away the vape pod kit as soon as you finish every bottle.

The price difference is that vast. You could pitch your rechargeable, reusable and brand new vape pod every two weeks and still end up ahead.

How can this be? Consider that a Juul pod contains a mere 0.7ml of nic salt eliquid.

In other words, it takes almost 43 pods to equal a single 30ml of nic salts. This is almost 11 four packs. And this enormous price difference does not even factor in flavor quality, convenience, the superior battery life of refillable devices, and flavor options.

HELPING CUSTOMERS TO MAKE THE SWITCH

The main reason that customers stick with prefilled vape pods is convenience and availability. Many are veteran vapers who remember when e-cigs were balky, unreliable, and of course did not contain smooth and potent nic salt vape juices. The fact is that for many users of Vuse Alto type devices, the gas station vape is synonymous with nicotine salts. The open style vape devices recall freebase fueled box mods and old fashioned e-cigarettes.

These concerns have been obliterated by improved refillable vape pod technology. For years now, devices like Smok Novo, Vaporesso XRos and Caliburn UWell series have proven to be basically idiot proof, which the author can attest to.

These compact vape pod kits offer draw activated performance, just like a prefilled vape pod, and are very easy to fill. There are no coil compatibility or ohms to consider.

Refillable vape pods use proprietary pods and coils that only work in the device of the same name. Put XROS pods on an XROS battery and squeeze in nic salts, the same eliquids found in a Juul or Vuse Alto, and you are ready to roll with superior performance in terms of vapor production, battery life and arguably flavor.

Maybe the hassle of squeezing a needle nosed nic salt bottle into a fill port custom designed for easy access is not worth a couple hundred dollars a month  to some customers. It is up to resellers to explain why this is an odd take and just how easy refillable vape pods are to use. But most are simply not aware of the extent of the savings available, or the tremendous advances made in vape pod technology.

Cost Analysis: Prefilled Vape Pod versus Refillable Vape Pod Kit

Rather than just fuzzy math, let us deep dive into the price difference in a specific instance. Juul pods are sold in packs of four that cost $20.99. This is 2.8ml of e-liquid, or over ten times less e-liquid than is found in a salt nic bottle.

An individual Juul pod holds 0.7ml of nic salt e-juice. They are only available in tobacco flavor due to the federal ban on prefilled pod flavors.

It takes 10.71 four packs of Juul Pods to equal one 30ml salt nic bottle. This will run you $224.89.

For sake of comparison, a bottle of I Love Salts costs $13.99 online and maybe $20.00 at a brick and mortar store.

The Vaporesso XROS Mini is an autodraw device and about the same size as a Juul. There are quite a few similar autodraw refillable vape pod kits on the market as well. The XROS will set back a vaper looking for a vape pod starter kit another $25 dollars, perhaps a bit less. At this point, even with taxes they are in for maybe $50 with 30ml nic salts and a refillable vape pod kit. On the flip side of the coin, $50 will cover 8 Juul pods with a total of 5.6ml of nic salts and no device.

Daily Use Costs: Refillable versus Prefilled Vape Pods

The price difference is jarring when projected. But at the point of sale, a gas station pod customer only sees that a pod costs $5.50 before tax. This is what most prefilled vape pod customers consider when making piecemeal, point of sale purchases.

Compared to combustible cigarettes, a $5.50 pod is not so unreasonable. Most vapers formerly smoked. The ritual of going to the gas station plays no small part in the appeal of these convenience store vape pod kits.

Yet this ritual is basically burning money when compared to a refillable device.A customer that limits themselves to a single Juul pod per day, this is a $165 a month habit that is vaping through 21ml of nic salts every 30 days.

Starting from scratch, with no device or e-liquid, a 30ml bottle of salt nic juice and a new vape pod kit will cost $50 give or take. The refillable vape pod will have a longer lasting battery and greater e-liquid capacity as well.

While you don’t get to just snap a prefilled pod in place, you do not need to worry about running out of charge and the actual refillable pod will hold a minimum three times more nic salts (2ml being the smallest common size for a refillable vape pod kits).

Refillable Vape Pod versus Disposable Vape

Next time, we will break down this obvious comparison. It is a bit more detailed because disposable vapes range from less than 2ml to 14ml, which is essentially half a nic salt battery attached to a battery. It is worth noting that disposable vapes are generally better price performers than prefilled vape pod kits and available in more flavors. But they still cost significantly more than refilling your own vape pod kit.

Then there is the huge advantage that refillable vape pods have over disposables in terms of nicotine strength. Most disposables come in 50mg nicotine strength. This is a common strength for bottled nicotine salts but there are also lower nicotine options. Resellers may find customers eager to drop their nicotine intake, while continuing to vape. A refillable vape pod kit is an ideal vehicle for such an approach. Most have at least one pod or coil option designed to handle lower nicotine freebase eJuices.

Resellers: Finding the Right Fit

There are obviously a ton of different vape mods and pods on the market. For someone making the switch from a prefilled, or closed, vape pod kit like Vuse Alto or Juul, keeping it simple is probably the best bet.

There are now refillable vape pods that can tackle any ejuice and have swappable coils. Even the XROS and Smok Novo, smaller than a Juul and draw-activated, have a sub-ohm coil/pod for vaping thicker and lower nicotine vape juices.

Level up to a larger vape pod kit and there are displays and various modes. Technology is all well and good. But the basic starter refillable vape pod kit with no buttons to push, easy to fill pods, reliable performance and a very small form factor will be the best fit in most cases.

These smaller refillable vape pod kits have great flavor and tight draws, which makes them the best Juul alternative.
